This is a very inspiring poem written by the wise Khalil Gibran (1883-1931) , rich in teachings on the posture and balance of the members of a couple and other forms of intimate relationships.
A real compass 🙏 Remember that the direction is not the goal, the path is the objective!
How does this text resonate (and resonate 😉) with you?
Allow space to enter within your union.
And let the winds of heaven dance between you.
Love one another, but do not make love a chain.
Let it rather be a sea dancing between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other’s cup, but drink not from the same cup.
Give each other of your bread, but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be merry, but let each of you be alone.
As the strings of the lute are alone while they vibrate with the same harmony.
Give your hearts, but not to each other’s keeping.
For only the hand of Life can hold your hearts.
And stand together, but not too close:
For the pillars of the temple stand afar off,
And the oak and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.
Khalil Gibran, the couple
